StudioBos and Racial Injustice

As the owner of StudioBos Media, I want to tell you that StudioBos is committed to being an anti-racist organization. We mourn the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and all victims of racial injustice. Black Lives Matter. We stand in solidarity with protestors across the nation who are calling for justice and accountability. 

StudioBos is a white-led organization with majority-white contributors and contractors, and has a majority-white audience. We are a part of a music industry that has been and continues to be exploitative of people of color, and black musicians specifically. We're also part of a media industry that has marginalized black and brown voices, and work in a nonprofit sector that has centered and valued the contributions and expertise of white people above those of black people and people of color.

The current situation made me take a hard look at the actions I’ve taken, and I realized that while I prided myself in hiring people of color, and talked actively about women’s equality, this fell far short of what is needed to combat injustice. 

I am learning and listening as fast and as intently as I can, with particular attention to Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) in the singing and voice communities. StudioBos is working on creating pathways forward to further center and uplift BIPOC voices in our journey towards becoming an anti-racist organization.
